The most-awaited and anticipated project in the twin cities, Rawalpindi Ring Road, is entering the final phase of development. Due to some additional sub-projects and improvements, the authorities announced a new deadline. As per the latest update, Rawalpindi Ring Road will be operational by March 2026.

This development is a sign of continuous progress on one of the most significant infrastructural ventures in Rawalpindi city. It aims to enhance travel, increase connectivity, and alleviate intercity congestion.

The construction work continues steadily, and despite the earlier delays, 75% development is already completed. Furthermore, asphalt work on 9 Km is also finished. This visible progress of Rawalpindi Ring Road is a clear sign that the remaining work will be carried out even faster, once the revised PC-1 is approved and the Punjab Government releases funds.

Cost Revision for Better Construction

As construction material and labor costs have increased nationwide, they have also affected the Rawalpindi Ring Road project. The new budget is PKR 45 billion, previously set at PKR 33 billion. This increment ensures the use of high-quality construction materials and long-term durability. The revised PC-1 of Rawalpindi Ring Road, prepared in cooperation with NESPAK, is submitted to the departments for approval to secure funding.

Additional Sub-Projects and Enhancements

Multiple sub-projects and enhancements are a part of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, including the renovation of Thalian Interchange and the construction of new and improved toll plazas on Motorways. These sideline developments will ensure smoother traffic flow on Ring Road and motorways.
